Windows Embedded 8.1is a family of operating systems, initially positioned to work on terminals, ATMs, self-service systems, for equipment used in production, medicine, trade, presentation, security, etc. These operating systems are based on desktop versions of Windows 8.1, but they are distinguished by optimization for low-power hardware by reworking the system kernel, which, for a minute, can give a second chance to life for weak computers. Plus, Windows Embedded 8.1 lacks certain functionality that comes with the corresponding desktop versions. In particular, Windows Embedded 8.1 installs without much of the Metro functionality. On board there is only the Store, the OneDrive client, the "Photos", "Camera" applications and the Metro version of the Internet Explorer browser.

Windows Embedded 8.1 allows, like a regular desktop version, to connect a Microsoft account and use its capabilities, in particular, to synchronize data between authorized devices. The only thing is that Windows Media Center cannot be implemented in it, which, to be honest, few people use, preferring third-party programs to work with media content. Well, the industrial version of the system weighs two and a half times less than its desktop counterpart.

The assembly includes only those editions of the Windows Embedded 8.1 family that can be comfortably used on ordinary desktop computers. Well, as you may have guessed from the SevenMod nameplate in the assembly name, I added some functionality on my own.

Here is the successor to the assembly Windows Embedded 8.1 RUS-ENG x86-x64 -8in1- SevenMod (AIO). The changes are minor. For the most part, this is updating Windows Embedded 8.1 updates to the release date of the assembly. Nevertheless, please love and favor!

The assembly includes 4 Russian and 4 English editions of Windows Embedded 8.1 for 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) kernels:

The assembly is based on Windows Embedded 8.1 distributions hosted on MSDN on December 15, 2014.
The assembly integrates critical updates available as of February 27, 2021, including updates to the .NET Framework 4.8.
The assembly includes support for .NET Framework 3.5, and the \ sources \ sxs folder has been removed from the distribution kit, which contained the files for initializing the installation of this package.
The assembly integrates Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2019 Redistributable Package of the latest versions. To avoid duplicate installation by various applications of earlier versions and to redirect programs that need these library packages to the latest versions, the installation of outdated versions is blocked by stubs (project [addon] Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005-2008-2010-2012-2013-2019 Redistributable Package x86 & x64 ).
The assembly is integrated with DirectX 9.0c.
The assembly integrated utility StartIsBack + version 1.76, which adds the classic Start menu.
The assembly integrated utility Aero Glass version 1.4.6 (with the add-ons ModernFrame and UxThemeSignatureBypass), designed to return the transparency of Aero and unlock the ability to install third-party themes.
The assembly integrated utility 8GadgetPack version 33.0, which adds the ability to use desktop gadgets.
The assembly integrates the WUFUC utility version 1.0.1.201, which unblocks the installation of updates via Windows Update on computers with AMD Ryzen, Intel Kaby Lake and higher processors. Shortcuts to control this utility are available from the Start menu.
The assembly disabled a number of Microsoft services responsible for collecting telemetry data.
The assembly disabled the fix for counteracting the Meltdown and Specter viruses (KB4056892), which seriously slows down the system on many computers.
In the assembly, the call to the Internet Explorer 11 first launch window and the Smart Screen service are disabled.
A tweak has been applied to the assembly that adds the "Device Manager" item to the "This PC" context menu.
A tweak has been applied to the assembly that adds "Copy to folder ..." and "Move to folder ..." items to the context menu of files and folders.
A tweak has been applied to the assembly that adds the day of the week to the system date, which is also displayed on the Taskbar.

The Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (MSDaRT) 8.1 module is integrated into the system recovery service, both launched from the installation media and built into the system itself, which significantly expands the capabilities of system resuscitation.
Fixed a feature of the Windows Embedded 8.1 installer, due to which in a multivariate assembly, when starting the installation from under an existing system, the choice of the edition to be installed was carried out only by entering the key for this edition. In this assembly, the selection is carried out as usual by clicking on the name of the edition in the list.
Fixed a feature of the Windows Embedded 8.1 installer, due to which in a multilingual assembly, when starting the installation from under an existing system, there was no choice of the installer interface language. In this assembly, a similar choice is provided.
The system is installed immediately with Russian and English language packs. The choice of language during installation only affects which of the languages will be the main one. So at the end of the installation, you can easily change the interface language using standard OS tools without downloading additional files.
Restored the functionality of the boot menu by pressing the F8 key. The F8 boot menu is displayed in text mode.
The "Last Known Good Configuration" item has been restored in the F8 boot menu.
At the earliest stage of the installation, there is a pre-boot menu in which you can select the bitness of the primary shell, that is, which installer will be used, 32-bit or 64-bit. Thanks to this, there is no need to worry that the 64-bit version of the OS may not stand on RAID, and that its users may find themselves without a system restore service.
The inoperability of the Windows Memory Diagnostic (Memtest) utility available from the pre-boot menu has been fixed.
For all editions, the restriction has been removed, due to which it was impossible to enter the serial number at the installation stage.
If during the installation of the system you entered a valid license key in the corresponding field, then the system will be activated with this key on a completely legal basis. If the field is left blank, then alternative activation methods will be used.
If during the installation of the system you enter certain dummy keys (see FAQ), then the system will be installed without any activation. This may be necessary if you do not currently have a valid license key in your hands, but soon you will have it.
If during the installation of the system you do not enter the key at all, then the system will be activated automatically using the AAct 4.2 Portable activator from Ratiborus with the installation of automatic reactivation every 10 days. In this case, in addition to the "Start" menu, a shortcut to the executable file of the activator under the name "KMS-activation" will be added. With this activator, you can activate not only Windows, but also Office 2010-2019 VL.
Made minor improvements to the installer interface to fix the flaws of Microsoft programmers.
Due to the technical features of the assembly, from under the existing system it is possible to install only the 64-bit version of Windows Embedded 8.1. And only in the Custom installation mode.
