Pointwise released an updated version of its computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh generation software. While primarily a maintenance release, it includes new geometry model import, improved CFD flow solver export, and user interface updates.

About Pointwise. Pointwise is a software system for the generation of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) grids. Many of the grid generation methods used in Pointwise were developed and fine-tuned over the past 25 years in Pointwise's predecessor, Gridgen. Pointwise combines the grid generation expertise and history embedded in Gridgen with more modern software engineering and graphical interfaces to make grid generation as simple as possible.

Available for Windows, Linux, and Mac, you can generate structured, unstructured, and hybrid meshes including our T-Rex technique for highly-automated generation of boundary layer resolving hybrid meshes.

In this video we demonstrate how the Max Layers and Full Layers parameters influence the anisotropic tetrahedral extrusion (T-Rex) advancing layer mesher used in Pointwise to advance anisotropic triangles or tetrahedra in 2-D or 3-D, respectively.
